This place was awesome! The food was authentic & delicious & they had live music. Our daughter danced the entire night. It was a fun, family environment. :)

Server took our order promptly. Food was ready quick. Food was full of flavor. I ordered the Chicken ala Parilla. It was exquisite. If you order it, you won't regret it. All the good/ingredients seemed to be quality and fresh. Very affordable food, especially given the quality and quantity.

This place is great - we've brought the kids, and would come on a date. I've never had a bad meal here.

Time to update....been a little over a year since last review...was in on January 4 taking the Dad and stepMom to dinner... Just as great as always!!! Extensive menu...excellent chips and salsa...love the steamed corn tortillas with the butter in a squeeze bottle on the table... It's located in a strip mall complex on Airline with a nice little bar (What's on Tap 2) just down from it and a Health club called the "Plex" on the other side...Just a step up from a Dive, I'd say, with kitschy Mexican decor, 4 to 5 booths, 8 to 10 tables in the front part and 3 to 4 tables in the back area...Live music from a 1 man keyboard player on Friday and Saturday... Just went with beef Nachos this time around, so did the Dad...the stepMom went with a combo plate that had a hardshell taco and an enchilada...Food as usual was OUTSTANDING!!! Prices are reasonable...brought the whole meal for 3 in under $35... Service was great...I've always had great service here....the only thing that keeps them from a 5 star is limited cerveza selection...Jesus that sounds a bit douche-y...but hey I love Sol cerveza and they don't carry it....Usually go with Modelo Especial when I eat here and THIS is the place I go for Mexican when I'm in the Boss City and feeling the urge... If you are ever in the area give it a stop and try...you'll like it!!!

If this is the best Mexican food in town we are in serious trouble. It bills itself as being authentic Mexican, but doesn't come close. I asked the waitress if the cook made the enchilada sauce from real dried chilies or used a powder. She said real dried chilies. She was a terrible liar and it was written all over her face. When a thin, watery, orange sauce came out, I was pretty sure it came from a can. The beef in the enchilada tasted canned. The horchata, which took a long time to come out after the waters, was clearly from a mix (though topped nicely). Everything was topped in copious amounts of gooey cheese ... authentic Mexican food rarely uses cheese and when it does, it is a crumbled cheese. There are weird squeeze bottles on the table and when we asked we were told it was butter. Huh??? Mexican creama is often served in bottles like that but requires refrigeration. I'm not sure what they were aiming for there. The chips and salsa was good and plentiful. The place was clean. My husband waited for me in the hallway while I paid but though they advertise a military discount, no one but the military member may claim it and they did not accept my military dependant ID. It is a pet peeve of mine because money between married couples is shared. It all comes out of "his" pay. I went out to the hallway to grab my husband and he (now thoroughly annoyed), came in to show his ID. I wish places that were gracious enough to offer our service members discounts would realize how frustrating that is. My husband, kids and I all agreed this place is not worth going back to

For shreveport, this about the best place for real tex mex. This place is a hole in the wall, but serves up the freshest food this side of San Antonio. And the prices are so low, I'm surprised that they make any money on there food. Go for the lunch and a soft drink, and you won't spend more than a tenner. And the wait staff is so on point and friendly! If there were more than 5 stars I would give it!

We go to this place all the time. The beef enchiladas with chili sauce are our favorite! Chips and salsa are just OK, but we still like it here. We came on a Sat night and there was live music, which was a lot or fun.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
